China Plate Wall Displays: Cheap and Easy!

Plate walls are simple to make and cost next to nothing - they are also no longer limited to kitchen or living room walls...

But I don't have any plates!
Find them at yard sales, thrift shops, or online.

I don't know where to start!
To coordinate plates with your room, pick a color from your room's  decor - your rug or curtain fabric, and go from there. Or, you might want to contrast plates with your wall color. Check out this collection of wall displays and be inspired!

How to hang plates:
You don't need any type of fancy-schmancy plate hanger mechanisms!  You don't want to use those anyway. They are irritating!  All you need is some E6000 and large paper clips. Perfect!

  1. I can't decide which display I like the most. Great post!

  2. So enjoying your blog!!! It's a wealth of inspiration!

  3. Love love LOVE!! I pinned a bunch of these. So many favs! Fab post!

  4. WOW! What a collection of plates! My favorite photograph is the one with the white dishes on the bedroom wall!

  5. Awesome! I'm pinning some of these right now!

  6. Hoping to add a display for our baby's room! Now, I just have to narrow down and pick one. Great ideas.

  7. what is E6000? is that a type of glue?

    1. Yes, and it is available at most craft stores.

  9. I love plates, it's sort of a problem... Thanks for the inspiration.I just got and idea for hanging plates on my fence!

  10. Thanks so much for the hanging idea with the 6000 and paper clips. I have two boxes of collected plates and thought I would have to invest a large amount for hangers.....I have waited more than 3 years to hang my plates when I finished redoing my kitchen...I also truly love all of the wonderful ideas you have posted....thanks....

  11. Does E6000 work for outdoor installations? Heat, cold, rain, snow?

  12. I have lots of old silver trays as my mother and grandmother were cateress. I don't use them that much love the memories they hold. I love the idea of using them as wall art. I especially like the idea for the overlaid circle of trays. Going to do that really soon.

  13. Beautiful and very unique collection of plate displays. Love love it !
